Local Ambassadors

Ambassador - Australia

Elaine's City:
 Adelaide, South Australia

A Quick Fun Unique Fact About Elaine:
I love the snow! Lived in Alaska for 11 years and learnt to snowboard when I was 39 :)

Why Elaine LOVES to GROOVE/Why she loves The GROOVE Method:

I learnt to groove 6 weeks ago and was instantly hooked! I love to exercise AND dance so groovin' gives me the chance to do both. It's such a wonderful feeling to connect to music and have the freedom to move, shake and wiggle your body however you want without feeling silly. And after an hour of groovin' you feel so good physically and mentally you can't wait til the next session.

Why Elaine LOVES her local community:

I have lived in Adelaide for 8 years and although it was a pretty tough adjustment in the first 2-3 years (there's no snow here!), I have come to appreciate the many benefits of living in a small city. We have wonderful beaches within 20 minutes, several wine districts and FANTASTIC restaurants. Adelaide doesn't embrace change easily so it will be a challenge to introduce a new way of exercising - but I'm looking forward to it!

Elaine's vision for where she'd like to take the GROOVE  in her local community:
Because it doesn't matter what age you are to groove I want to make it open to EVERYONE in the community. Eventually I can see myself taking the groove into schools, retirement communities and with specialised populations. Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel good and experience a ridiculously fun life!

Why Elaine wants to be a GROOVE Ambassador :

As a Groove Ambassador I can make a positive change in peoples' lives - helping someone experience more fun, better health and overall wellbeing in their lives is extremely rewarding.  I would like to organise a community event, affiliate myself with a health organisation and together we can promote the benefits of regular and fun exercise. The more people we can get groovin' the better the world will be!!

Local GROOVE Ambassador - Toronto (Goodlife Fitness Clubs)

Name:
 Jenny McKaig

City: Toronto, ON, Canada

A Quick Fun Unique Fact About Jenny: Before moving to Toronto, I spent nine months living IN A VAN in Australia! I love to travel and explore, taking in everything this wonderful world has to offer!

Why Jenny LOVES to GROOVE:
I LOVE the way GROOVE makes me feel—connected, conscious, alert and alive!!! Nothing compares to cranking the tunes and moving the way MY body wants to move, exactly and perfectly the way it’s supposed to!

Why Jenny LOVES her local community:
Toronto is unbelievably diverse. Every corner brings a new adventure, full of different people and perspectives. I love seeing the differences but knowing we’re all connected, mixing and mashing through the city in a way that brings us all together.

Jenny's vision for where she'd like to take the GROOVE: I’d love to see the GROOVE grow from Toronto into smaller towns and cities. GROOVE isn’t some trendy new fitness fashion—it fits everybody and allows everyone to move their own way. If we can get everyone Grooving their bodies, the effects filter out into happiness and joy in our lives… if we Groove our bodies, then we can Groove our whole lives!!! Also… GROOVE drives creativity… As a writer, I’ve experienced the impact Groove can make… GROOVE has changed the way I work, the way I live! I’d love to take GROOVE and use it to teach other writers… when you just move (or write!) in your own way, everything else falls into place! GROOVE is about finding YOUR way, and I’d love to bring this to writers and others in the creative community!!!

GROOVE AMBASSADOR - United Kingdom

City: Worcester, West Midlands, United Kingdom

A Quick Fun Unique Fact About Maria: I WORK HARD, PLAY HARD AND GROOVE EVEN HARDER!

Why Maria LOVES to GROOVE: There is nothing more liberating than letting go of all your inhibitions in a room full of people, connecting on the purest of levels and getting completely and utterly lost within the most in-sync connection with music...."what does the music say to you? How does the music make you want to  move?" The more I groove, the more liberated I become in my own life....the more I live day by day with the biggest smile both on the inside and on the outside. Once you've GROOVED, there's no going back!

Why Maria LOVES her local community: Music is a language that we all speak and understand, the UK being such a diverse place with an amazing mix of people with such a wide mixture of music tastes that when in the right environment and with some crazy powerful beatz & vibez, the explosion of chemistry between strangers can be mind blowing....believe me, I've witnessed it! By tearing down the boundaries with your peers and for yourself it can only mean LIBERATION! We got a lot of love and compassion within us and with a little guidance and time out from 'life' we can ignite a transformation within our own selves and begin to evoke a change. We are crying out for a change in the conventional structured way we have been told to exercise and be active....we just need someone to tell us that it's OK to break from the norm, we just need someone to do it first, to show us how it's done!

Maria's vision for where she'd like to take the GROOVE in her local community: By experiencing the positives of THE GROOVE METHOD within a class environment, I would like to see elements of the method permeate into individuals lifestyles. It's OK to be you...it's OK to look different...it's OK make a 'fool' of yourself....
IF IT FEELS GOOD FOR YOU THEN IT'S OK. I would like to see more of this outlook in schools so that from a yong age children are empowerd to live a full and healthy life without the excessive effects of alcohol, food that damages the physical and psychological well being and a self esteem that helps them to reach a place where they understand how to LOVE themselves for who they are and NEVER feel bad or guilty for the choices they make. I would like to see GROOVE accessible to all kinds of people in all kinds of venues. As a work out, a social platform to go along side nightclubbing and also as a form of self healing for those suffering with various issues. UNITED KINGDOM...ARE YOU READY???!!!!

Ambassador - Australia

Miranda Rudegeair ~ Melbourne, Australia

A Quick Fun Unique Fact About Miranda: I like dancing to weird things like blenders and cross walk signals :)

Why Miranda LOVES to GROOVE/Why she loves The GROOVE Method:

The GROOVE Method makes complete sense to me and my body! I GROOVEd for the first time at Filex this year and after sitting in lectures for hours on end (where they explain to you how bad it is to sit for long periods of time!), the class made me feel fantastic. I come from a dance background and I was just thinking today about how we are so restricted in our movements - especially in the isolation part of the warm up. Our bodies move in so many more ways than we know and I thought it was so fun exploring that!

Why Miranda LOVES her local community (what makes it unique and awesome?):

I am very close to my community because I have lived in the same suburb all my life. I know all the cafes and parks and places to go. I worked at the local supermarket for 7 years when I was a teenager and I still see regular customers I used to serve walking around the streets! I teach a lot of zumba and hip hop around the area and I feel like it would be so unfortunate for all these people to not know about GROOVE! Its a very friendly area. People are generous and willing to help. I recently went to put posters up (about my hip hop class) in the local cafes and I was amazed how nice people were to me. It was something I wasn't that excited about doing. But when I'd finished handing them out, I felt really happy about where I lived and amazed that a bunch of strangers could be so welcoming to me and willing to help me out.

Miranda's vision for where she'd like to take the GROOVE  in her local community:
After experiencing the class - my body does not want to do anything else. I don't want to go and slam my knee teaching zumba everyday - i just want to move! Ideally I'd like to turn all the classes I already have into GROOVE. But also get into the local schools. I have taught zumba at one disabled school before and they loved it. But I think that they'd love GROOVE even more because there is freedom of movement and they don't have to worry if they can't get the steps. The kids I teach already LOVE making up their own stuff. I could only imagine them thriving off GROOVE. I wish we had it when I was at school! I was so fidgety! I hated sitting down all day. I would like to bring that feeling of relief to others. It would also work really well for depressed people - I could approach the community houses and start classes through them as well.

There are new people to meet every day, I love meeting new people, I love to motivate them and bring happiness with my positive energy. Each person you meet brings something new to your life, we are all different yet come together in some way. We have one life, one chance to live. We are a community who treasure and support each other. We have room to grow.

Ceri's vision for where she'd like to take the GROOVE in her local community:
Wow where to start…I would love to have regular classes for people to come and socialise, release, grow, smile. I would like to take it to children in the local schools. I want to spread groove into neighbouring communities. I want the whole of Australia to embrace the groove method, the power of loving life and enjoying and embracing who they are as individuals. I want people to love themselves for who they are. I want my community to experience groove.

Why Ceri wants to be a GROOVE Ambassador and two actions she forsees herself taking to help promote and spread awareness about The GROOVE Method:
I want to be a groove method ambassador because it has changed the way I think, the way I move and I want others to experience this to make them live and love life and themselves to the fullest. I will promote and spread the awareness of the groove method anyway I can whether it be classes, advertising, demos whatever it takes for people to experience some form no matter what size. Ambassador - Australia

RuthAnne Triebner ~ Sawtell NSW, Australia (relocating to Sydney Jan. 2013 & travel to Sydney frequently) Born in Guelph, Ontario Canada

A Quick Fun Unique Fact About RuthAnne:
love cotton candy, people watching...chicken watching too, but most of all I just love to smile at people.

Why RuthAnne LOVES to GROOVE/Why she loves The GROOVE Method:
It takes me back to a time when I was groov'in on a dance floor in the 80's...like a dancing queen/fool/star. I'm almost 50 now and still love to dance but don't find
venues where I can "let it all go!" When I dance I feel like I'm having an out
of body experience (in a good way!)

Why RuthAnne LOVES her local community (what makes it unique and awesome?):
There are so many different folk, all moving to a beat of their own. Also we have amazingly beautiful beaches & a wonderful historical cinema which supports "art house" movies in between the other stuff :)

RuthAnne's vision for where she'd like to take the GROOVE in her local community:
I believe this can meet people of all ages, I can see kids groov'in, boomers, seniors, and those "young ones who love hip-hop and techno-my son! What appeals to me is the self creativeness of the program, and how the facilitator helps people to breakdown barriers and be free. Also my other passion in yoga & mediation so the fact that this program marries the two together: dance and relaxation, makes it a double win situation. Also this method of movement can work for "all" fitness levels.

Why RuthAnne wants to be a GROOVE Ambassador and two actions she forsees herself taking to help promote and spread awareness about The GROOVE Method:
I want to spread the Groove message because it is different from the "mainstream" method of exercise, which many people are just tired off. It puts the control into the hands of the participant. This is so refreshing. Plus it there are a lot of people out there who want to dance but can't find a venue that is comfortable (especially baby boomers like myself.)
