Miranda Rudegeair ~ Melbourne, Australia
A Quick Fun Unique Fact About Miranda: I like dancing to weird things like blenders and cross walk signals :)
Why Miranda LOVES to GROOVE/Why she loves The GROOVE Method:
The GROOVE Method makes complete sense to me and my body! I GROOVEd for the first time at Filex this year and after sitting in lectures for hours on end (where they explain to you how bad it is to sit for long periods of time!), the class made me feel fantastic. I come from a dance background and I was just thinking today about how we are so restricted in our movements - especially in the isolation part of the warm up. Our bodies move in so many more ways than we know and I thought it was so fun exploring that!
Why Miranda LOVES her local community (what makes it unique and awesome?):
I am very close to my community because I have lived in the same suburb all my life. I know all the cafes and parks and places to go. I worked at the local supermarket for 7 years when I was a teenager and I still see regular customers I used to serve walking around the streets! I teach a lot of zumba and hip hop around the area and I feel like it would be so unfortunate for all these people to not know about GROOVE! Its a very friendly area. People are generous and willing to help. I recently went to put posters up (about my hip hop class) in the local cafes and I was amazed how nice people were to me. It was something I wasn't that excited about doing. But when I'd finished handing them out, I felt really happy about where I lived and amazed that a bunch of strangers could be so welcoming to me and willing to help me out.
Miranda's vision for where she'd like to take the GROOVE in her local community:
After experiencing the class - my body does not want to do anything else. I don't want to go and slam my knee teaching zumba everyday - i just want to move! Ideally I'd like to turn all the classes I already have into GROOVE. But also get into the local schools. I have taught zumba at one disabled school before and they loved it. But I think that they'd love GROOVE even more because there is freedom of movement and they don't have to worry if they can't get the steps. The kids I teach already LOVE making up their own stuff. I could only imagine them thriving off GROOVE. I wish we had it when I was at school! I was so fidgety! I hated sitting down all day. I would like to bring that feeling of relief to others. It would also work really well for depressed people - I could approach the community houses and start classes through them as well.
