I've had a few friends share some amazing videos with me via youtube and I can't help but want to share them with YOU!
I LOVE these videos because they showcase people from all over the world who fearless of what people think about them and simply DANCE in public!
Watch the joy this older woman gets from dancing in the aisles at a superstore...
This guy bravely dances his own dance and gives a MOB of people the permission to join him!
and another great one - an example of dancing in the streets!
Finally, another spontaneous dance...this time with a street drummer! Dance and music unites people in movement, self-expression and being totally unique!
So the question is what makes these individuals any different than us? The answer is that they are fearless to move their bodies their own way. We all love dancing and moving to music but the fear of looking "crazy" or not "having the right moves" is stopping us from actually savouring a moment of joy in dancing anywhere you get inspired to dance!
I hope you enjoyed these as much as I did! I hope that they inspire you (give you permission) to try dancing in public- do it with a group of people during an outdoor festival, throw on your iPod and wiggle in your own world in a park or simply start by practicing dancing your dance when you're alone at home. (If you feel silly even doing this, ask yourself 'why?'...there is no one there but you so OWN it)
DANCE...feel silly...be fearless...do it your own way... and start living YOUR ridiculously fun life!

GO GIRL!!
I find myself boppin in the stores too! I was with a friend in a clothing store and they had this REALLY good music playing. I couldn't help myself :D.
You gotta just let go and GROOVE...! <3
I love these videos Mel. <3
Melanie,
I just know that I will be that old lady in a Walmart one day. I already dance in stores when I hear songs on the loud system. My kids run away from me. I don't care. I love moving. To feel free enough to enjoy a good beat is a gift I don't ever plan to return!
Thanks for a great weekend in DC. I grooved my warm up and cool down in my hi/lo class. It was fantastic! I felt so free from the chains of memorizing a routine. I just danced. I could tell from their faces and comments that others loved the freedom too! Thank you for this gift.
I hope I see you again in this life. I was a teacher too who reached many young children. You are a gifted teacher who isn't afraid to teach and challenge. This produces growth.

Thanks Karen!!! You truly are "that" dancer who bravely and boldly dances your own dance and give others permission to do the same! I hope you and I get to wiggle and make a scene in a public place very soon :)
big hugs and thank you for your kind word!
