About The GROOVE Method Teacher Training Course and Certification

The GROOVE Method™ Certification process begins with participation in the GROOVE Method™ Teacher Training Course and successful completion of a GROOVE Facilitator Practicum (6 practice classes). The course educates instructors on how to TEACH using The GROOVE Method™- specifically: how to use simple movement, powerful music and motivational cueing to facilitate an inviting space for participants to be inspired to DANCE for the HEALTH of it.

~The GROOVE Method™ Teacher Training Course~
This 14 hour training implements best-practices in adult learning and education, including theory lectures (5.5 hrs), LOTS of practical application activities (6.5 hrs) as well as GROOVE demos (2hrs)

~GROOVE Facilitator Practicum~
Following the course, GROOVE Facilitators are required to return to their communities and teach 6 GROOVEmethod™ classes to a minimum of 5 participants in each class. The Practicum Package must be submitted to The GROOVE Method Institute and the instructor will receive a certificate and the title of GROOVE FACILIATOR
*once instructors have completed this step, they can teach GROOVEmethod™ classes in their community under the title of GROOVE Facilitator, using the movements and choreography provided by The GROOVE Method Institute*

~"Certified" GROOVE FACILITATOR PROCESS~

Those individuals who are interested in developing more in-depth knowledge and skills related to The GROOVE Method can continue the full certification process, which, upon successful completion, will give them the title of Certified GROOVE Facilitator. To receive the title, instructors must complete 4 required and a minimum of 1 elective GROOVEnrichment. Most GROOVEnrichments are provided through an online forum. Once instructors have participated in the required courses, they must submit a video of themselves teaching a full GROOVEmethod class, demonstrating their ability to integrate all of the concepts learned during the GROOVEnrichment courses.
Once an instructor has reached the status of Certified GROOVE Facilitator, the certification status does not expire.

WHO SHOULD GET CERTIFIED IN THE GROOVE METHOD?
The Groove Method™ Certification is for group-exercise instructors, dance teachers, yoga instructors, school teachers and anyone who want to inspire people to dance and move their body for the health of it!
 

If you are a FITNESS instructor - The GROOVE Method™ will teach you how to fuse simple choreography with fitness training movements where everyBODY can learn how to DANCE as they sweat, strengthen, tone, challenge and nurture their own body to foster a more vibrant, happier and healthier self.

If you are a DANCE teacher- The GROOVE Method™ will allow you to share your passion for dancing with more people. Learn how to reduce the intimidation factor of dance and eliminate the 'myth' that people "don't have rhythm" - simplify, connect to the music, encourage uniqueness and make dance movements accessible so that everyBODY can experience the joy of dancing! 

If you are a SCHOOL teacher- The GROOVE Method™ will allow you to increase participation of students during dance and physical education classes. Engage students to be creative and develop positive attitudes towards physical activity as they DANCE for the HEALTH of it!

If you are a YOGA instructor- The GROOVE Method™ will teach you how to let your participants harness the mindfulness of yoga through the joy of dancing by allowing each person to explore simple movements and encouraging each person to execute them in a way that feels best in their body.

If you are an EVERYDAY PERSON who simply wants to bring The GROOVE Method™ to your community, this certification training will teach you that creating safe and motivating spaces where everyBODY can DANCE and enjoy being physically active is not complicated. You will learn how to set-up a class, coach a group of everyday people to successfully learn simple and easy dance moves, and then create a space where people can discover for themselves how to move their bodies in a way that feels best for them. *Though Fitness Instructing Certification is not required to attend the course, The GROOVE Method Institute strongly encourages everyone who wants to teach group-based classes to seek certification in group-exercise to develop a core understanding of human anatomy and movement, and for insurance/liability purposes.*
